They are solid, reliable little things, but incurably slow. Working at a Honda shop in the 80's I sold a new spree to a friend who put about miles on it in 3 yrs. Had it in storage until about 5 yrs. You kind of get away with stuff like parking on sidewalks because it's small and cute. It's my favorite around town vehicle. I love this thing! Also, back in the day, I bought a new MB5. Dealers couldn't buy just 1 as they cam 2 in a box. So, 6 of us at the shop got together and bought 3 boxes and terrorized the town for the summer.
Which I still had it Around put miles on an 85 spree. All it ever needed was oil and gas. I eventually replaced the spark plug but that was just because I wanted to do something to it, not because it needed it. IIRC the kickstand was located in such a way that if you really leaned into a corner it would hit the ground and launch the rear wheel off the ground in a bizarre but controllable arc.
I considered it a sharper turning technique but it terrified anyone who saw it. Want to post in this forum? We'd love to have you join the discussion, but first:.

For the model year, Honda redesigned the Spree logo on the side panel. The new logo was much larger. The white Spree above shows the original logo, and the other photos show the new larger logo.
For , Honda also tweaked the logo again and added a kick starter which is a great backup. Mechanically, Honda made a bunch of minor tweaks which did have a significant overall effect. For Honda added a glove box, which provided some much needed enclosed storage. The spot is great for carrying a few spare tools, a small bottle of oil, or your camera.
Honda also revised the blinkers and dash design for this year. Accordingly, a properly running Spree tops out at about 30mph and thus is moped legal in quite a few states. In states where the moped limit was 25mph, Honda sold a restricted version called the Iowa Spree. You can read more about this 25mph restriction here. Switching to a regular Spree exhaust will add 5mph unless your eBay score is half plugged with carbon. Rather, the Spree uses a single speed belt drive.
