Why do people hate bustin boards

Almost all other longboard companies have a preset graphic on the bottom of their boards. Bustin Boards is different in that you can choose the graphic and colors you want, or submit your own graphic and color scheme altogether. This can be seen here. In the summer of I found a longboard video on youtube , and immediately fell in love. The video was created by Original Skateboards. After a quick Google search for longboard shops near me, I found Bustin Boards in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and decided to check them out.

I had never in my life ridden a longboard in my life let alone a skateboard. The Bustin crew were very nice and courteous. They let me try out some of their stock boards outside their shop for as long as I wanted. Even though I fell off every single one of them, I still ended up going home at the end of the day with a new longboard. As with everything else in life, I immediately went online to research my new board.

I came up to a site: www. With over , users, no other online forum comes close Silverfish Longboarding. The site is run by a group of longboard enthusiasts Silverfish Longboarding. It is free and open for anyone to use. Originally I was discouraged from the comments, but as I started to learn how to ride my board I was surprised the comments were what they were. Where did this negativity come from? Among the many comments I found were:.

Note to reader: my current longboard is a Maestro. I tried to find other online forums looked at other online forums in order to see if the negativity is repeated. There was really no other online forum as big as silverfish longboarding. I took my search to YouTube and didn't find any prominent voices of negativity. Most of the videos of longboards on YouTube are well liked.

They are often trick. There really wasn't really anything negative said about Bustin boards from what I've seen. There were very few negative comments, if any at all. I looked up to comments from at least 4 months ago.

If there were negative comments, they were downvoted and were hidden from view. Below is a table I compiled using data of the last 10 videos of three different YouTube channels.

These companies produce a video on their channel about every week. Also those two channels generate the most views among longboard videos. I recorded the number of views, likes and dislikes. Next I went to check Facebook. I used these two groups, since these were the only two groups that I was a part of. Due to high volume of posts, I only looked at up to 2 months of comments. There were no bad comments on Bustin Boards. In fact many of the boards on the market itself were Bustin Boards.

It is a highly traded commodity in this forum. This shouldn't be a surprise since after all NY is Bustin board's turf. As expected there were people on this forum who have Bustin boards and were generally in favor of them. However I did find some members of the group who viewed Bustin boards unfavorably. When Bustin was founded, they started a following under a genre they titled "Push Culture".

Longboards have long been used for recreational activities, such as hill-bombing , slaloming , various tricks, etc. Push Culture basically wanted to bring longboards into the mainstream, so they can be used by anybody. They also seem to have been using longboards for quite a long time; many years before Bustin got into the mainstream.

They see Push Culture as a threat to traditional forms of longboarding hill-bombing, slaloming, slides etc. From what I can see, those members are pretty much the conservatives of the longboard community. They dislike the fact that Bustin makes longboarding a hip thing. Many of the longboards made by Bustin are made specifically to make it easier for commuting.

I determined if the company is reputable or not by noting its brand name value, and its popularity on campus. There is a big difference. The ride of a shitty board is rocky and uncomfortable compared to the smooth and ease of the ride from reputable boards. When I first started longboarding the hate on was great. As I was reading posts on the Silverfish forums I found a post that pretty much summed up what I felt about the Bustin Boards haters. Those big companies, high production films, marketing budgets, and awesome team riders shredding on supposedly mediocre boards are the reason you're able to ride on these new high-tech decks, precision trucks, top quality slide gear and safety gear, etc.

Many of the users who hate on Bustin feel as if Bustin is diluting the appeal of longboards by making it a hip thing. Bustin Boards is aware of its silverfish negativity, and pokes fun of it themselves. Today Bustin Boards has a lot better image now, than before. There is a greatly positive attitude towards Bustin on the Silverfish forums now, compared to great negativity 3 years ago.

Bustin has tried to some extent to combat the negativity by releasing boards catering to other disciplines of longboarding such as sliding, and hill-bombing. I attribute the change in favorability to more users reviewing their pleasure of the company.
